Getting started with Fresco

This page walks you through the essential steps of setting up and editing your new Fresco website. Just follow the advice below to get started.

Go to [your-url]/user and sign in with your Oxford Single Sign On (SSO) username and password.

Replace [your-url] with your site’s web address.

Make sure you're using your correct Oxford username (e.g. abcd1234).

Visit the SSO page for help with your account.

Before you start, make sure to watch the overview of the administration area video.

Start by configuring the key elements of your site:

You’ll need to review and, if necessary, customise the four mandatory compliance pages on your site. These must be linked to in your site footer.

1. Accessibility statement

We recommend that you link to the Fresco Platform Accessibility Statement in your site footer. However if your site content has specific accessibility requirements, you may use the default accessibility page provided. Please do not edit the existing text on this page; instead add your custom content below the default text.

2. Privacy policy

We recommend that you link to the University's privacy policy in your site footer. However if you have specific privacy requirements, you can use the default privacy page provided.

3. Cookies

If your site is on the ox.ac.uk domain, you must link to the Use of cookies on this platform page. Please do not create a custom cookies page.

4. Copyright

We recommend that you link to the University's Ownership, Liability and Use statement in your site footer. However if you have specific copyright requirements, you can use the default copyright page provided.

If you have a cross-institutional website (i.e. co-owned and managed by multiple institutions, including external bodies), you must publish a custom copyright page.

Advice about image credits

Image credits should be included on the individual pages where the images appear; a separate picture credits page is not necessary. You are responsible for checking copyright and must credit any images not owned by you or the University, including those from the University's Image Library.
